This slice of cake fabric button brooch is the perfect accessory to an afternoon tea, or a street party for Jubilee celebrations! Created from Platinum Jubilee themed fabric, it features the British Flag, also called the Union Jack, as well as crowns, yummy cake like this one, tea cups and tea pots. For this brooch, I’ve selected a part of the fabric featuring a lovely slice of Victoria sponge cake, decorated with a strawberry, on a beige background. I have created a 28mm fabric covered flat backed button, then secured a birch plywood wooden disc to the reverse of the button and hand painted it with a deep metallic beige pearl artist acrylic paint. I also added two layers of clear acrylic varnish and attached a gold plated metal brooch back with safety clasp. The brooch back is nickel, cadmium and lead free. As the brooch measures just under 3cm, it is an ideal accessory for a jacket, jumper or blouse - or even on a bag!
