Description
These grass woven shallow trays or table centrepieces have been handmade by a group of women in a rural community bordering Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwest Uganda.
Two different grasses are used, one to give structure and one for the detail. They also use banana tree fibres to give it their distinctive pattern.
Colours of the dyed grass between the banana fibres can be customised. Picture d here is midnight blue. Rose pink is also popular with the banana fibre. All colours are achieved by using natural dyes.
The result are these amazing mats and trays that brighten up any table or wall - so get creative!
They are approximately 30cm in diameter and have a shallow lip of about 4cm.
